Plaques are only available for places listed on the State Register of Heritage Places. Visit inHerit to see the status of your property.
If a place is on the State Register, it will appear shaded red and display the Heritage Council logo with the text ‘State Registered Place,’ as shown here.
Plaques are provided free of charge. If your application is successful, the Department will work with you to determine where and how the plaque should be installed. Plaques must be displayed in a publicly accessible location. Applicants may need to engage with the relevant statutory body (e.g. local government or state agency) to determine if any approvals are required before the plaque can be installed.
Requests for plaques associated with a place located within a heritage precinct may be subject to alternative forms of recognition, depending on the historical or cultural context of the precinct.
The Plaques Program often experiences high demand and there may be a significant wait between application submission and approval. If there is an upcoming anniversary or event associated with the place, please contact the Department at heritagesupport@dplh.wa.gov.au to discuss further. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee that a plaque will be issued.
